The overall objective of the project is to improve road accessibility on the Polish-Russia cross-border area and to develop the regional transport and communication networks. The project will allow to increase carrying capacity of the road infrastructure and to improve transport flows and access to the national and international systems. Moreover, the activities implemented within the project will increase road safety and decrease the number of road accidents.
The main activities planned within the project on the Russian side of the border include reconstruction of a two-lane road together with the reconstruction of a bridge with the total length of 2.2 km in the Gurievsk District. The activities also include construction of 5 bus stops, planting 200 trees and purification of the watercourse and the left river bank of the Gurievka River, which is located near the bridge. On the Polish side, the partner also plans to reconstruct a two-lane road with the total length of 2.4 km together with the reconstruction of pavements. This road will be a part of the Via Baltica motorway.
Additionally to all the benefits from the implementation of the infrastructural component of the project, the partners will create a solid basis for cross-border people-to-people cooperation by organising public events such as conferences and bike rides.
