2 ships – Common Sea. Soldek and Vityaz: Maritime Heritage of Poland and Russia 2020-07-06, Category: Projects news

Project "2 Ships – Common Sea. Soldek and Vityaz: Maritime Heritage of Poland and Russia” is implemented within the Poland-Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 by three partners: Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad (Lead Beneficiary), National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk and the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad.

The main activities within the project involve the renovation of two museum ships – "Soldek" and "Vityaz" – and the creation of new permanent exhibitions on these ships – "Sołdek and its Times" and "The Epoch of Vityaz". Two artistic plein-airs, in Gdańsk and Kaliningrad, followed up with a temporary exhibition to be displayed at both museums, and a conference "The Epoch of Vityaz" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Museum of the World Ocean in Kaliningrad will be organised. The partners are also planning to hold international seminars and maritime practices for students in Poland and Russia.

The project is designed to serve a platform for strengthening cross-border cooperation among the partners and provide a basis for future educational, museum and tourist activities. The museums will develop new offers using the experience gained within the project, which will result in strengthening the tourist potential of the cross-border region.

The total budget of the project is 2 067 696.76 EUR, whereas the Programme co-financing is equal to 1 860 927.08 EUR.
