POLAND-RUSSIA Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014–2020
On 8-10 September 2020, the representatives of the Center of European Projects, including the Poland-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, took part in the 30th Economic Forum in Karpacz. This year's event was held within the slogan "Europe after the pandemic: Solidarity, Freedom, Community?".
The purpose of the Forum was to exchange views on the current political, social and economic, situation facing Central and Eastern Europe as well as situation regarding COVID-19 pandemic, which affected all spheres of life.
During the third day of the Forum, a discussion panel “Interregional and cross-border cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe” was held. It was a good opportunity to summarise 30 years of Interreg in Europe. The panel was moderated by Mr Leszek Buller, Director of the Center of European Projects.
Among the guests of the panel there were Mr Zdzisław Szwed, Member of the Board of the Lubelskie Voivodeship and Mr Wojciech Gizicki, Professor and Vice-Dean of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. The speakers presented benefits from the implementation of the EU projects.
Mr Leszek Buller, Director of the Center of European Projects stressed that despite the barriers of cross-border cooperation, which undoubtedly include inter alia the EU's external border or different languages, the inhabitants of the border areas want to cooperate with each other. Moreover, activities carried out within the cross-border cooperation programmes bring significant benefits.
