POLAND-RUSSIA Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014–2020
On the 27th of September, 2021, a bike ride of officials to celebrate the European Cooperation Day, took place. The event was attended by the EU Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mr Markus Ederer, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Mr Dmitriy Volvach, Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Mr Anton Alikhanov and representatives of the regional government and diplomatic corps in Kaliningrad. It was organised along a section of a new cycle path, that is being constructed as part of the Large Infrastructure Project of the Poland-Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020 “CBCycle: Cross-border cycle routes for promotion and sustainable use of cultural heritage”.
Mr Ederer highlighted that "The trip was wonderful. This is a very good project, typical for our cross-border cooperation. It will be continued. We spoke with the governor and we have ideas for the future." Mr Alikhanov added that he has a hope that the Cross-border Cooperation Programme will be continued, and Kaliningrad Region will participate in it. This would contribute to the development of tourism.
At the end of the bike ride, all participants received souvenirs with the logos of the Poland-Russia CBC Programme 2014-2020 and the 10th anniversary of the European Cooperation Day.
