Modernization of water and sewage management in Mlynary and GurievskPR/1/081/2018

The project is aimed at improvement of water management and enhancement of benefits of water supply for the residents on both sides of the border – in settlements of the Gurievsk District and in the Młynary Commune. The common challenge for the project area is outdated infrastructure, insufficient water supply system and low quality of water delivered to the inhabitants.

The beneficiaries of the project will achieve the objectives by the implementation of the infrastructure component on the Russian side and the development of technical documentation on the Polish side of the border.

A complex of waterworks facilities will be reconstructed, including works on three existing water intake sites – 14 main water wells and 3 reserve water wells. Moreover, a water supply system will be upgraded by laying of water pipelines with the total length of 3.81 km in the settlements of Vasilkovo and Maloe Vasilkovo (in the Gurievsk District). At the same time, the Młynary Commune will benefit from the development of technical documentation for reconstruction of an existing water treatment station. In the future it will ensure more sufficient water management in the region.

As result of the project, a number of soft activities will be implemented to boost the cross-border cooperation and raise ecological awareness. The beneficiaries will jointly organise conferences, workshops for Polish and Russian professionals in the water and sewage sector, seminars on environmental protection mechanisms and tools as well as they will produce a joint brochure and leaflets about common ecological challenges and solutions.
