High-quality water available in the Stare Juchy Community and in the Oziersk District, for the benefit of the cross-border area between Poland and Russia and the Baltic SeaPR/1/116/2018

The project will address a number of common cross-border environmental challenges such as risk of water contamination by sewage leaking from septic tanks, water losses due to the outdated treatment facilities on both sides of the border and low availability of high quality water for the residents in the project area.

The planned activities in Stare Juchy Commune include the construction of 3 waterworks to connect the villages of Jeziorowskie, Laśmiady and Bałamutowo (8.1 km), which are currently out of reach of the municipal water supply system, to the network as well as the construction of a water treatment station in Grabnik Osada and a sewage system in Liski. The Russian partner is planning the installation of 14 water filtration systems in wells, the reconstruction of 6.23 km of water supply networks in the Oziersk District (the settlement of Lvovskoye) as well as the implementation of design and survey works for development of technical documentation for reconstruction of a water supply station and networks in the town of Oziersk. Both partners are also committed to reducing water losses by installation of water measuring devices on a number of water supply and treatment facilities on both sides of the border.

Additionally to all the benefits from the implementation of the infrastructural component of the project, the partners will create a solid basis for cross-border people-to-people cooperation involving general public and industry experts in participation in conferences and study visits, along with involving youth in participation in the Pure Water contest to raise awareness about water saving and preservation
