Joint initiatives on development and improvement of the quality and accessibility of the social infrastructure through modernisation of the roads of the Gurievsk Urban District and the Sępopol communePR/1/070/2018

The main objective of the project is to counteract the problem of low road infrastructure accessibility and low quality of transport and communication networks, which affects the international road traffic and limits development opportunities in the Polish-Russia cross-border area. The implementation of the project will have a positive impact on the capacity of the road infrastructure, improve transport flows and facilitate access to national and international transport systems.

The planned activities on the Polish side of the border include reconstruction and resurfacing of 6 sections of municipal roads with the total length of 5.9 km (in Sępopol, Różyna, Domarady, Wodukajmy, Romankowo and Smolanka). In the Gurievsk District, the reconstruction of a two-lane road along with the accompanying infrastructure is planned. The length of the reconstructed section of the road is 2.4 km (from the bridge over the Gurievka River to the settlement of Maloe Vasilkovo). The investment on the Russian side also includes the following activities: construction of 2 bus stops, construction of a rest area, and purification of the watercourse and the right bank of the Gurievka River near the bridge.

Apart from the infrastructural part, the project also includes a soft activity in the form of a seminar aimed at fostering road safety and traffic rules compliance for school students, which will be organised by the Lead Beneficiary – Sępopol Commune.
